Fury Platinum Northeast is a regional division in the Fury Platinum family.  FPNE is built around a deep understanding of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic recruiting landscape, where college coach density and opportunity are among the strongest in the country. This expertise allows us to strategically position our athletes for meaningful exposure and recruiting success within this region.

While our primary focus has been on supporting players pursuing opportunities in the Northeast, our teams compete in nationally recognized events and are structured to support athletes whose recruiting goals extend beyond a single region. As our program continues to grow, we remain committed to placing players in the environments that best fit their academic, athletic, and personal goals.

At its core, Fury Platinum is about strategic player development and exposure. Like other elite national programs, we bring a proven system that supports the growth of college-bound athletes, offering access to a broad network of recruiting resources.

Our model not only enhances the level of play in the Northeast but also increases recruiting visibility for our regional athletes, making Fury Platinum Northeast a smart and strategic choice for players who are serious about their future in the sport.

Each year, we field as many teams as can support competitive schedules geared towards the collective goal and aspirations of that roster. Therefore, the number may vary depending on roster composition and the ever-changing travel softball landscape. FPNE does not operate on quotas; we will never create a team simply to add more teams.

Fury Platinum Northeast is recognized for its “quality over quantity” philosophy, which is respected by our college coach network. Every team, regardless of level, is built around a like-minded, competitive focus. Our process begins each season with the intention of fielding one team per age division. From there, we carefully evaluate the rosters and determine whether adding multiple teams within a division makes sense from a competitive standpoint.

Absolutely. Fury Platinum has established deep and growing relationships with college programs nationwide, providing our athletes with opportunities to be seen at every level, including Division I, II, and III. Across the organization, more than 250 players have gone on to play college softball (see our Alumni page), and our Platinum staff has been building trusted relationships with coaches for over 20 years. In particular, our Northeast Division maintains an impressive pool of connections within our footprint because they know our players are tested against strong schedules and developed to compete at the next level.

But here’s the truth: connections alone are not a magic ticket. Recruiting is a process that requires consistent effort, and FPNE guides players and families through every step. We teach players how to help themselves, maximize exposure, and stand out. We don’t make empty promises about scholarships or recruitment. Instead, we provide what truly matters:

• Doors opened through long-standing college relationships for those willing to put in the work

When trying out for any team, focus on the schedule, not a fancy-sounding name. The schedule should match the player’s long-term goals, and it has little to do with what the team is called. If a team’s schedule doesn’t consistently place the player among athletes with similar aspirations, it’s probably not the right fit. Team names loaded with adjectives (gold, silver, elite, premier, select, futures, national, regional, etc.) can be misleading in travel softball. In reality, teams are best understood by their roster makeup, schedule, and commitment history rather than a title. Below, you will find how Fury Platinum Northeast defines the 3 primary groups of travel softball teams:

What is a ‘National’ Team?

• Mostly Division I commits or prospects and several Division II prospects.

• The entire roster expects to play college softball and pursues that goal.

• Competes at the highest level with no geographic limits.

• Always qualifies for and attends a legitimate national tournament (Alliance, Triple Crown, USA Gold, or PGF).

• Requires significant time and financial investment.

What is a ‘Regional’ Team?

• The entire roster is filled with legitimate college prospects (any division).

• Recruitment-focused, competing in the top tournaments within one U.S. region.

• May qualify for and attend a top national tournament (Alliance, Triple Crown, USA Gold, or PGF).

• Mostly prioritizing exposure in the strongest regional events.

• FPNE requires all teams to operate as Regional teams, at minimum.

What is a ‘Local’ Team?

• Focuses on league-hosted bracket (recreation) tournaments in a drivable area.

• Lower cost of entry, and less travel required.

• Limited to no college recruitment guidance, but to be fair, this may not be the team’s goal.

• May occasionally enter showcase events, but is unlikely to earn top field placement. Team often labeled ‘Showcase’.

• FPNE does not field Local teams at the 16U/18U levels.

We select tournaments with one primary goal: meaningful exposure against the right level of competition. This philosophy applies to our recruiting-focused teams, with age-appropriate adjustments made at younger levels to support long-term development.

While individual coaches may recommend events and maintain control over their own travel, our overall scheduling philosophy prioritizes high-profile tournaments with a proven track record of strong college coach attendance, competitive field strength, and consistent recruiting outcomes. We focus on events where our athletes will be evaluated by coaches who are actively recruiting players at their level rather than chasing volume, geography, or name recognition alone.

As a nationally recognized organization, Fury Platinum teams are placed in events where college coaches expect to find recruitable athletes. Our emphasis is on playing in the right events, not simply the most events, ensuring that every tournament weekend serves a purpose in an athlete’s recruiting journey.

We primarily compete in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, where college coach density is high, and supplement that schedule with select national and Southeast showcase events when they provide added recruiting value. Our approach to schedule building is intentional, strategic, and designed to maximize exposure and development; not scattershot.

The best time to join is in your 7th or 8th grade school year, especially if college softball is your goal. This gives athletes time to develop, start building a recruiting resume, and gain experience to prepare for key showcase years. That said, it's never too late! Players who join at the 16U and 18U levels have been successfully recruited through our program. What matters most is your commitment, skill level, and visibility during the prime recruiting windows (8th–11th grade).

Our coaches work with athletes at every age to guide them through the recruiting process and get them seen by the right programs.

We support players from all geographic locations, but each team’s “home base” is determined by the coach’s preferred practice area. Fury Platinum teams are structured to support athletes on a regional scale, so travel distance should not be a limiting factor; we make it work. In the Fall, practices are held on weekends at outdoor fields, with indoor winter training held at various sites, including our own facility, H.I.T. Center of RI. During the summer, we’ll practice during the week if time allows (i.e., tournament travel is dense and may not allow frequent team practices).

The NCAA’s Division I “5-in-5” rule gives an athlete a five-year window to participate in college sports. That clock generally begins when the athlete enrolls in college full time or reaches the NCAA’s age-based starting point (19yo). Once it begins, the clock keeps running, even if the athlete transfers, sits out or takes time away from the sport. For most players, that means college eligibility ends around age 23 or 24.

How Does It Affect Recruiting?

Because college athletes may remain on rosters for as long as five years, fewer roster spots may open for incoming high school recruits each season. Coaches may also choose an experienced college transfer (i.e., transfer portal or JUCO transfer) instead of a freshman who needs more time to develop. This makes it important for families to start the recruiting process early, consider multiple college levels, and focus on finding programs where the athlete has a realistic opportunity to join the roster and compete.
